SATURDAY 18th MAY 1907 – Celtic fail to win all four trophies in the one season when they surprisingly go down 0-1 to Rangers in the Glasgow Charity Cup final at Cathkin. It is a disappointing performance from Celtic who have perhaps simply switched off too early.

SUNDAY 18th MAY 1930 – John Thomson makes his Scotland debut in Paris and keeps a clean sheet as Scotland beat France 2-0. Peter Wilson is also playing, but Hughie Gallacher, late of Airdrie and now of Newcastle United scores the two goals.

SATURDAY 18th MAY 1985 – In a come-back to rival any in Celtic’s long and illustrious Scottish Cup history, Celtic in breath taking style fight back to win the Scottish Cup in an epic struggle against Dundee United. Down 0-1 with only 15 minutes left against one of the best defensive teams in the business, Celtic push Roy Aitken forward and immediately win a free-kick on the edge of the penalty box which Davie Provan converts. With five minutes to go, Frank McGarvey heads home the winner from a Roy Aitken cross and Celtic have now won the Scottish Cup 27 times.
